If bowing walls are not corrected they will require even more work and money as the walls will need to be excavated from the exterior if proper beams (braces) are not installed by a licensed contractor. The picture to the right shows newly installed basement foundation support beams installed on a wall that has a lot of moisture which left white residue on the wall as it evaporated. Moisture freezes in the winter, expanding the water and pushing against the foundation walls. This is what typically causes bowing in the walls. By installing the braces the walls no longer bow due to the 3”x5” braces supporting the walls. This costs a fraction of what it will be to excavate and correct bowed walls over 1”.
